2nd Workshop on Procedures for the Development of Evidence-based Recommendations for Immunization. Berlin, September 2011

To continue the dialogue and to provide an update on recent experiences the German Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Robert Koch-Institute held a second international workshop on the same topic in Berlin on September 15-16, 2011. 

Participants of the workshop discussed the applicability of GRADE for the development of evidence-based vaccination recommendations and challenges of developing vaccination recommendations at country-level as well as possibilities for providing international support to National Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs).  

Again the meeting brought together representatives of national immunization committees or their scientific secretariats from the United States, Canada, several European countries including United States, Canada, and several European countries including France, Austria, UK , Ukraine and Germany as well as from Lebanon, Mozambique and Thailand. Furthermore, experts from international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), and the GRADE Working Group participated in the workshop. 

The participants have emphasized again the importance of a continuation of this international dialogue.
