Addendum to Heat in Germany: Health risks and preventive measures

The global rise in temperature and the associated increase in extreme heat are among the most directly perceptible consequences of anthropogenic climate change. Exceptional heat events affect the health of the highest number of people compared to other extreme weather events, such as cold, storms, and floods. This is illustrated here by an analysis of registered events causing personal injury and death for the years 2000 to October 2023 globally, in Europe, and in Germany.
