ISSUE 1

Social Differences in Germany: Mortality and Life Expectancy

The first issue of the Journal of Health Monitoring in 2019 focuses on social differences in mortality and life expectancy. Data from the Socio-Economic Panel are used to describe the current situation and trends in Germany. A Fact sheet also analyses current trends in the development of life expectancy in Germany and places them in a European context.

In addition, this issue also concentrates on health inequalities among children and adolescents in Germany. In doing so, it provides an analysis of developments in health inequalities over the last ten years using data from the German Health Interview and Examination Survey for Children and Adolescents (KiGGS).

The issue also provides information about the IMIRA project (Improving Health Monitoring in Migrant Populations) and reports about the project’s initial findings.
