Disclosure of Authors’ Conflicts of Interest

The Journal of Health Monitoring bases its definition of conflicts of interest on the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals published by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

A potential conflict of interest within the ICMJE definition exists when professional judgment concerning a primary interest (such as patients’ welfare or the validity of research) may be influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain). Perceptions of conflict of interest are as important as actual conflicts of interest. Authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships and activities that could influence their work, or that could be perceived by others as influencing their work.

All authors are required to complete the ICMJE Disclosure Form to declare their relationships and activities and to indicate the source of their research funding. The information provided about potential conflicts of interest and funding will be published with the article. The ICMJE form should be downloaded (see link below), filled in electronically, saved, and sent by email to the corresponding author. As an alternative, the contents can be transferred to the manuscript.

The corresponding author is required to send all of the authors’ forms to the editorial office at healthmonitoring@rki.de when submitting the manuscript.
