Contact: Dr. Christa Scheidt-Nave, Dr. Jens Baumert, Dr. Christin Heidemann, Heike Hölling

The project aims to understand the importance of psychosocial risk factors for the development of diabetes and over the course of the disease in the adult population in Germany. The data supports the identification of groups with a high risk profile and enables the development of target specific primary and secondary prevention measures.

Overview on the key questions of the project:

  1. Influence of increased depressive symptoms and low social support on the quality of care regarding diabetes.
  2. Potential differences of the diabetes-related excess mortality due to disparity of social support and increased depressive symptoms
  3. Changes of glycemic status and predicted diabetes risk in context of depression and social support
