Regulatory Authority for the Import and Use of Human Embryonic Stem Cells

The Centre reviews research proposals on human embryonic stem cells. It verifies the requirements for approval of the proposed research based on the German Stem Cell Act, and is responsible for the approval processes. The centre authorises the import of human embryonic stem cells. Further tasks include processing and monitoring of scientific aspects of stem cell research, participation in task-specific national and international committees as well as the maintenance of the register on scientific projects according to the Stem Cell Act.
