At the end of 2023, the ZKI-PH welcomed nine new young scientists in Wildau. Over the next three years, the doctoral students of the second cohort of the ZKI-PH doctoral programme will develop and research innovative AI methods for public health research in close cooperation with various departments of the RKI. Topics range from the development of AI models for research on the mental health of the population using natural language processing, to machine learning methods for the detection of natural reservoirs of highly virulent pathogens, AI-assisted proteome analysis of antimicrobial resistance, and many other fascinating topics.

At the official Kick-off on 15 January 2024, the PhD students gave a first insight into their research plans in the presence of their RKI supervisors, the ZKI-PH unit leaders and the ZKI-PH department management.
