COVID-19: Surveillance and Studies at the RKI
In assessing the situation, the RKI relies on various surveillance instruments, models and studies. Some of the existing systems were expanded and some new systems were established. The RKI works closely with national and international partners. Some of the projects are listed here, the list is constantly being expanded.

Surveillance of all-cause mortality in various European countries. From Germany participation through Berlin and Hesse.

Wastewater surveillance includes taking regular wastewater samples and examining these for the occurrence and quantity of certain pathogens like SARS-CoV-2.

The data and details of the tests carried out were published and explained once a week on Wednesday in the situation report.

COVIMO – COVID-19 vaccination rate monitoring in Germany (completed)
COVIMO was intended to regularly survey the German population on topics related to COVID-19 vaccination. The goal of the COVID-19 vaccination rate monitoring was to capture the willingness and acceptance of different population groups in Germany to get vaccinated, to identify possible barriers to vaccination uptake in a timely manner and to be able to derive appropriate communication measures.
