Lothar H. Wieler joins WHO European Advisory Committee on Health Research
From 1 February 2018 onwards, RKI’s president Prof. Dr. Lothar H. Wieler will serve as a member of the WHO European Advisory Committee on Health Research (EACHR). The membership is for a period of two years.
The committee consists of 24 public health experts from all over Europe advising the WHO Regional Director for Europe on the best ways to promote and strengthen the use of research evidence for public health decision-making and to inform policies for the development of health research in Europe. Among other things, Prof. Wieler will support EACHR in advising the Regional Director on formulation of policies for the development of research for health in the region, review the scientific basis of selected WHO/Euro programmes with particular attention to their translational aspects, facilitate dialogue and interaction among the public health community, research bodies and funding agencies and support the development of the research potential and capability with special attention to the eastern part of Europe.
