All materials leaving the BSL-4 laboratory, in­clu­ding waste, de­fec­tive equip­ment and supplies, under­go treat­ment in special cham­bers called auto­claves. By apply­ing hot steam and pressure, vi­ruses that might stick to the mate­rials’ surfaces are com­ple­tely des­troyed.
