Exiting the laboratory

Before lea­ving the BSL-4 labo­ratory, the staff, wear­ing their posi­tive pressure suits, take a de­con­ta­mina­tion shower for six minutes. Viruses that might stick to the suit’s sur­face are being des­troyed. The de­con­tami­na­tion shower’s waste water is then heated up and ste­ri­lized – like all the other liquid waste from the BSL-4 lab­ora­tory.
