Sample transfer into the BSL-4-Laboratory

In the BSL-4 lab­ora­tory, sci­en­tists and tech­ni­cians also handle samples from pa­tients suf­fer­ing from Ebola virus disease, Lassa fever or Mar­burg virus dis­ease. The samples are de­live­red to RKI by spe­cial­ized mes­sen­gers in pro­per­ly se­cured con­tain­ers cooled by dry ice and trans­fer­red into the lab through a trans­fer tank or chemi­cal shower.
